For centuries Toompea has been the seat of the various powers that have ruled on Estonian soil. Across its several buildings, the Toompea complex lets you see Estonian history from the Middle Ages to the Soviet period. Its best-known parts are the surviving section of the medieval castle and the Riigikogu building. This year we focus on Toompea as a centre of innovation, home to a number of advances dating back as far as the Middle Ages. We will also give an overview of what makes the Estonian parliament unusual in the world. Photo: Erik Peinar
